1500 Sound Academy’s Reopening Event

On Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021, we officially welcomed students and the public back to the 1500 Sound Academy campus! Our reopening event marked the return of our in-person music business program and was the very first time we’ve been back on campus since Covid-19 surfaced in early 2020. It was more exciting than we could’ve imagined to open our doors back up and welcome our new class, alumni, and special guests. We had several surprises up our sleeves and celebrated our return in many ways, giving our students a first day at 1500 Sound Academy they won’t forget!

Throughout the first half of the reopening, James and Rance were on campus with alumni and the new class of students. This included our excited scholarship winners, who we are honored to have join the 1500 Sound Academy family!

The Roland Future of Music Scholarship is truly the opportunity of a lifetime, awarding each winner $1,000.00 towards either the 1500 Sound Academy Music & Fundamentals Program, or our On-Demand Online Music Industry Courses.

The #YouTubeBlack Music Future Insiders Scholarship awards winners full tuition to 1500 Sound Academy’s Live Online Music and Industry Fundamentals Program. This inclusive music business program covers all a student needs to know to rise to the top of the music scene, including music production, engineering, music contracts, music management deals, legal issues in the music industry, music management and promotion, and so much more.

At the reopening, for the first time, 1500 Sound Academy had both in-person, live classes, and online music industry courses running simultaneously. Both groups of students were completely surprised by the appearance of world-renowned musician Jordin Sparks on their first day! Jordin shared encouragement and put the students in the perfect state of mind to truly believe in themselves throughout their journey at 1500 Sound Academy. As we like to say, this is a place to leave fear behind and grow as a professional in the music industry, and Jordin’s inspirational appearance echoed that sentiment.

At 2:30pm, we began our open house to the public. We encouraged students, alumni, and the public to visit the Roland room for jam sessions, enjoy Mars the DJ, and grab a delicious lunch from the sponsored taco truck Roland brought in.

The reopening included incredible speeches from the Mayor of Inglewood and Mayor Butts, as well as James and Rance. Roland, Fender, YouTube, and alumni all took time to give our future students advice on succeeding throughout 1500 Sound Academy’s music business program and into the music industry, and the powerful speeches were all streamed live on the 1500 Sound Academy YouTube Channel for anyone who wasn’t able to make it to the reopening in person.

Attendees of the event also included Grammy award-winning faculty like IZ Avila, the talented musical director of Usher’s Las Vegas residency, along with Dave Hampton and Tuff Morgan. It was incredibly exciting and encouraging to have such successful talent in the house for our students to mingle with and be inspired by! Also at the reopening, on the other side of the cameras, ABC-7, KABC, EARMILK, and other media outlets covered the event, gathering information to share fantastic stories about 1500 Sound Academy’s music business program and the reopening.

We’re excited to enter this season with our new students and can’t wait to see what these talented individuals have in store for the music industry when supported with an incredible education from the music business program at 1500 Sound Academy!
